The Code and Government Advisory Committee monitors changes to building codes and regulatory requirements, advocating for policies that support the engineering and construction professions. We work closely with local government agencies and industry organizations throughout the Philadelphia region, and engage in statewide legislative and regulatory initiatives in Harrisburg — through education, collaboration, and advocacy.

PURPOSE:
- To develop a collaborative relationship with building industry regulators with the City of Philadelphia and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- To be a resource for education for L&I’s plan examiners and inspectors on structural topics.
- To be a resource for technical expertise and interpretation of structural code provisions for L&I.
- To collaborate with other professional organizations regarding the building code and industry standards.
- To keep SEAoP members informed of relevant code changes.
